AVM Awarded "Golden Computer"

The German computer magazine, Computer Bild, has bestowed the coveted title of "Golden Computer" on AVM for the third time, following previous awards in 2002 and 2006, and named the company the 2008 manufacturer of the year in the "Telecommunications" category. Roughly 125,000 readers cast their votes to determine the winner of the 12th "Golden Computer" prize – the largest readers’ poll in Germany. Readers could vote from among more than 80 manufacturers in ten categories.

The FRITZ!Box Fon WLAN 7270 and 7170 were both declared winners in the "Telecommunications" category. Computer Bild’s gave its verdict on the award: "These products place AVM firmly at the top of Computer Bild’s list of first-rate WLAN routers with DSL modems. The readers paid homage to the innovative technology of the Berlin manufacturer and its affordable prices."

Apart from AVM, other award-winners included Electronic Arts, Sony and Apple. Rainer Markussen, publishing house managing director at the Computer Bild Group said: "The readers and users of the media of the Computer Bild Group have clear-cut ideas of which brands are the best and they made their voices heard in the current selection of the ‘Golden Computer’."
